We do have two house birds here. A starling named Jerk who was rescued as a chick fallen' from his/her nest with no idea what kind of bird he/she would grow up to be. Once jerk became an adult we discovered releasing  it back into the wild would be releasing him to his death so he is a happy not so friendly bird that talks up a storm here in the house and flies freely for limitled sessions. If he likes you will perch on your head, and procceed to dig for bugs in your hair. jerk has been with us for 5 yrs now.

Neon is a Quaker Parrot newly aquired by my daughter who raised and cared for Jerk but missed the fact she could never hold Jerk, effection was not his strong suit. Neon is just plain mean at times, a parrot who has not spoken but maybe 2 words, we are told is intimdated by the starling that talks so well, which is why he does not talk. Neon is very territorial of his space it makes liking him very hard. My daughter tried for several months to train him, the time and commitment became to much. Much more then the seller of the parrot told her she would have to commit. So the parrot was sold, but not out of the house. Neon now belongs to my husband, a man who loves birds and can get past Neon and his bad behavior. Hopefully to make him better bird one day. Neon has been with us for about a year.

Just a quick note...I will take a starling as a talking bird pet over a parrot anyday ;)
